Motivational Story Time. Marissa Bridle’s Weight Loss Story.

We wanted to start a new inspiration testimonial series on this blog. We have always loved working with our listeners to gain knowledge of their experiences with our hypnosis, meditation, and affirmation audiobooks. So, here is the first piece written by Marissa.


Dear Joel,

I was a compulsive eater. Growing up, I never had a weight problem. Once I got to college, I definitely put on the “Freshman 15,” but then it kept going. After graduating college, the weight gain was more rapid. I had never been active. Once I began working a desk job and living alone, I continued to gain. I could eat enough food to feed a family of four. I ate my way up to 272 pounds.

When I was bored, I would eat. When I was watching TV, I would eat. After a long day at work, I would eat. I didn’t have the energy or desire to get off the couch and do anything else, so I ate. I had no portion control. If I liked the taste of something, I couldn’t stop eating it. I made poor food choices and would fill up on unhealthy foods.

For years, the weight didn’t bother me. It didn’t bother me because I wasn’t really seeing myself. I wasn’t looking at myself in the mirror. I never owned a bathroom scale, so I pretended not to notice the weight gain. But I was tired. I was tired of buying the same shirt in different colors so I wouldn’t have to try on more clothes. I was tired of being scared to travel, knowing that one day soon I was going to need two seats to sit on the plane. And most of all, I was tired of feeling like I was just existing rather than living. I didn’t have a zest for adventure or a desire to get outside any do anything.

Today, I can proudly say I lost 137 pounds through hard work, exercise and the support of the Sleep Learning System! The best part of being healthier & slimmer is my level of activity and sense of adventure. Since my weight loss, I went skydiving, zip lining, and hiked in the Grand Canyon. I wouldn’t have considered any of these activities at my previous weight and appreciate my ability to do them.
