Although resolutions can turn out great, you might have noticed that you’ve already started negotiating what resolutions you’ll keep and those you won’t. If that’s the case, do not despair.
Dictionary definition of resolution: is a firm decision to do or not to do something.
Not bad, but fuzzy and a lot of wiggle room.
Unfortunately, we set ourselves up for failure by making too many resolutions because most are not grounded in reality. So here’s the definition of commitment – the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, et cetera.
The difference is that a commitment is a way of being, so everything else revolves around a real commitment.
Choose something that’ll make a massive difference to your quality of life. It turns out when you do; you will fit your life inside of that commitment, whether it’s to lose weight, quit smoking, quit drinking, or exercise more. You know what that thing is.
Make it meaningful and put all of your focus on making clear and measurable results. Use the resources around you to make it happen. Finally, give your word that it will be so. You will be surprised at how the other things you might have had on that list will fall into place.
You will succeed if you focus on what’s most important to have the quality of life you deserve.
